Apples to Apples Toledo Edison: How to Read PUCO's Chart
PUCO's Apples to Apples Toledo Edison chart opens with a box that states Toledo Edison's price to compare, 11.26¢ per kWh for October 1 – December 31, 2026, and then lists supplier offers. Its filter panel includes renewable content bands. This guide covers that filter, how Toledo Edison's chart relates to its FirstEnergy neighbors, and how to price a renewable offer against the box.
Updated
In short
- The box gives Toledo Edison's price to compare for supply only, with a footnote for electric-heating customers.
- Toledo Edison has its own chart and box, and three of its counties also appear in Ohio Edison's tariff.
- The renewable content filter keeps one band of rows, but a band says little about price, term or fees.
- Your FirstEnergy bill shows the customer number a supplier needs to enroll you.
- Combine the band with the term and rate type filters to match your plan, not only your preference.
What does the Toledo Edison box say before the offers begin?
The box gives The Toledo Edison Company's residential price to compare "for the generation supply portion of your bill" and the dates it covers. When we read it, that was 11.26¢ per kWh for October 1 – December 31, 2026.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) runs the chart on Energy Choice Ohio. Ohio Energy Savings is not PUCO.
The box carries the same electric-heating footnote as the other two FirstEnergy boxes, so qualifying customers read the message section of their bill for their own figure. It also says offer prices cover generation only. The chart prints the figure as $0.1126 per kWh.
That figure is the benchmark for Toledo Edison's standard service offer (SSO), the default supply you get if you never choose a supplier. See Toledo Edison rates for the territory picture.
FirstEnergy's Toledo Edison sample bill uses the same lettered layout as its Ohio Edison one. Its section D, Messages, is where it says you will find your price to compare.
FirstEnergy treats its three Ohio utilities together on its own choice page, which links a list of suppliers registered or pending registration in the three territories. PUCO still gives each utility a separate chart.
How does the Toledo Edison chart relate to its FirstEnergy neighbors?
Toledo Edison has its own tariff, its own chart and its own box, so its figure is stated separately from Ohio Edison's and The Illuminating Company's. Its tariff lists ten counties. Three of them, Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca, also appear in Ohio Edison's tariff, and none appears in The Illuminating Company's.
- Parent company
- FirstEnergy
- Fuel
- Electricity
- How the default rate changes
- The FirstEnergy Ohio companies reset the default generation rate each June 1 and adjust it at the start of later quarters as riders update. PUCO's chart states the period the current rate covers.
- PUCO chart number
- 3
If you live in one of those counties, the utility named on your bill settles which chart to use. FirstEnergy's customer choice page tells shoppers to keep a recent bill handy, because it shows your price to compare and your customer number, which a supplier needs to enroll you.
For the neighboring charts, see Apples to Apples Ohio Edison and Apples to Apples Illuminating Company.
Read the heading above the box to be sure. It should name Toledo Edison, and so should the first sentence of the box. A different utility name means you have the wrong chart open.
How do you use the renewable filter on the Apples to Apples Toledo Edison chart?
The filter panel lets you pick one renewable content band: 0 to 25 percent, 26 to 50, 51 to 75 or 76 to 100. Each row prints its own percentage in the renewable content column, and Apples to Apples Ohio explains what the column means.
Pick a band, press Filter Result, and the table keeps only rows in that band. The chart prints a count of the records found above the filters, so you can watch the list shrink. Press Clear Filter to start over.
Combine the band with the other filters. Add a term range and a rate type, and the list narrows to offers that fit your plan, not only your preference for renewable content.
A band is a starting point, not a verdict. It does not say where the power comes from or how the supplier proves it. Two rows in the same band can differ in price, term and fees, so sort by the $/kWh header after you filter.
The optional My Current Rate box sits above the price filters. The chart loads with every filter empty.
How would a renewable offer priced above the box read?
Imagine a made-up offer with 100% in the renewable content column. It is fixed for 12 months, has no fees, and prints $0.1166 per kWh against a box of $0.1126 per kWh. The home uses 800 kWh a month, a made-up figure.
| Choice | Printed price | Per month | Over 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Default, if the box never changed | $0.1126 per kWh | $90.08 | $1,080.96 |
| Made-up renewable offer | $0.1166 per kWh | $93.28 | $1,119.36 |
The offer costs $3.20 more each month, or $38.40 over the term. Whether that is worth paying is your call. The chart only shows the share of the supply that comes from a renewable source, so read the offer's terms for what that means.
A high renewable share does not change the other columns. Check the monthly fee and the early termination fee on the same row before you count the cost.
A padlock sits beside Fixed in the Rate Type column. For an offer you plan to keep for a term, a fixed row is easier to test against the box than a variable one, and the column guide at Apples to Apples Ohio covers the difference.
Staying on Toledo Edison's default is the better call when every fixed offer sits above the box and you do not want to pay for the extra, when a monthly fee or an early termination fee erases the gap, or when you may move before the term ends.
What should you check after the Toledo Edison chart?
Our Toledo Edison price to compare page covers where the figure sits on your bill and when it resets. Toledo Edison historical rates lists past figures, and Apples to Apples electric Ohio links all six charts.
Two links near the box lead to history. One opens PUCO's Toledo Edison price-to-compare chart. The other, labeled EDU Chart Archive, opens PUCO's Apples to Apples History Browser, which searches archived offers by date and territory.

Frequently asked questions
Can I filter the Toledo Edison chart to renewable offers only?
You can pick one renewable content band, such as 76 to 100 percent, in the filter panel. The table then keeps rows in that band. A band does not say where the power comes from, so read the supplier's offer terms, and still check price, term and fees for every row you keep.
Where does PUCO keep past Toledo Edison figures and old offers?
The chart links to two PUCO pages. One is a Toledo Edison price-to-compare historical chart. The other is the Apples to Apples History Browser, where you search archived offers by date and territory. PUCO says archived offers may be gone, so use them for research only.
What do I give a supplier to enroll with Toledo Edison?
FirstEnergy says your bill shows your customer number, which a supplier will need to enroll you, and it suggests keeping your latest bill handy when you shop. The same bill carries your price to compare. Have it open when you sign up, and check the offer against it.
Do I have to fill in My Current Rate on the Toledo Edison chart?
No. The chart labels the box optional, and it loads with every filter empty. You can read, sort and filter the offers without it. Your bill shows your current rate and your price to compare, so use those for your own sums.
