Terms of Service

Ohio Energy Savings is an energy broker and aggregator. We help Ohio households compare and switch the supply portion of their electric service. We arrange enrollment with suppliers certified by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

We are not a public utility and we are not an electric generation supplier. We do not own wires, read meters, deliver power, or restore outages. Your utility does all of that, before and after you switch.

Savings are not guaranteed. Estimates on this site are based on average supply-rate reductions achieved by program members. What you actually save depends on your usage and on the rate you would otherwise have paid.

To use the service you must be able to say yes to all of these:

• You are 18 or older.
• Your electric service address is in Ohio.
• The electric account is in your name, or you are authorized to make decisions for it.
• The account is for a home, not a business.
• The information you give us is true and yours.

Use the service for your own household. Do not do any of the following:

• Upload a document that is not yours or that you are not allowed to share.
• Enter someone else's information or sign on someone else's behalf without authority.
• Break, probe, or overload our systems, or get around our rate limits and bot protection.
• Scrape, copy, or resell our content or data.
• Upload malware or anything designed to cause harm.

You need a confirmed email address to create an account. Keep your password to yourself and use one that is at least 10 characters. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Before you sign anything, we ask for your consent to do business electronically. If you give it, your electronic signature has the same legal effect as one on paper.

You can ask for a paper copy at no charge, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing it may mean we cannot enroll you. The full disclosure appears on the signing page.

We store the document version and a fingerprint of the exact text. We also store your signature, the time, your IP address, and your browser details. You get a downloadable copy of anything you sign.

Our service is free to you. We never charge consumers to check savings, to upload a bill, or to enroll.

Suppliers pay us when a household enrolls. That is our only compensation from your enrollment. [LEGAL TO SUPPLY — compensation disclosure wording]

Your supplier's plan may include an early termination fee, and your utility sets its own charges. Those are disclosed in your enrollment agreement and on your bill.

Nothing is submitted to a supplier until you sign. You may cancel at no cost any time before we submit your enrollment.

After submission, Ohio rules give you a period to rescind after your utility sends its confirmation notice. That notice tells you how long you have and how to cancel. [LEGAL TO SUPPLY — rescission period and procedure]

We do not use pre-checked enrollment boxes, and we never enroll anyone who has not signed.

Savings figures, percentages, and dollar amounts on this site are estimates. They apply to the supply portion of your bill, never to the whole bill. They also assume typical usage for your area.

Rates move. An estimate you saw on one day may not match the offer available later. Your signed agreement controls your actual rate and term.

The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. [LEGAL TO SUPPLY]

We are not responsible for what your utility or your supplier does. That includes their rates, billing, service quality, and outage response.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages. We are also not liable for lost profits arising from your use of the service. [LEGAL TO SUPPLY]

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to [LEGAL TO SUPPLY]. Some states do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Ohio consumer protection law or PUCO rules.

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. We will tell account holders by email before a significant change takes effect. Continuing to use the service means you accept the update.
